Sentani, February 24, 2025 – A personnel of the Papua Police HR Bureau, Bripda Muhammad Abdi Taruna Pratama, has been crowned the overall champion at the 2025 Governor’s Cup Swimming Championship, organized by the Papua Provincial Office of Sports and Youth Affairs. The competition took place from February 21 to 23, 2025, at the Lukas Enembe Aquatic Stadium, Kampung Harapan, Sentani.

Representing the Papua Regional Police (Polda Papua), Bripda Taruna delivered an outstanding performance by winning a total of four medals—three gold medals and one bronze. He secured gold medals in the men’s 50-meter freestyle with a time of 28.06 seconds, the men’s 50-meter butterfly with a time of 29.13 seconds, and the men’s 50-meter backstroke with a time of 31.97 seconds. Additionally, he earned a bronze medal in the men’s 50-meter breaststroke with a recorded time of 37.16 seconds.
This achievement established Bripda Taruna as the best athlete in the competition, cementing his reputation as a promising swimmer in Papua. His success not only brought pride to the Papua Regional Police but also served as an inspiration for the younger generation to strive for excellence in sports, particularly in swimming.
The 2025 Governor’s Cup attracted dozens of athletes from various regions across Papua and is considered one of the most prestigious competitions aimed at fostering swimming talent in the region.
