Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force 2025 Foils Arms Smuggling to Armed Criminal Group in Puncak Jaya

Jayapura, March 8, 2025 – The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force 2025, in collaboration with the Papua Regional Police, successfully intercepted an attempted arms and ammunition smuggling operation allegedly intended for the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Puncak Jaya, led by Lerimayu Telengen.

The operation was the result of intelligence monitoring conducted from March 1 to March 7, 2025, revealing the movement of firearms from Jayapura to Puncak Jaya. Based on gathered intelligence, the main suspect, Yuni Enumbi (29), was set to deliver the weapons but was ultimately apprehended during the operation.

On March 6, 2025, the task force arrested Yuni Enumbi at KM 76, Keerom Regency. Additionally, two other individuals were taken into custody:

Yudhi Kalalo – A truck driver transporting the goods.
Matius Payokwa – A truck assistant.
Seized Evidence
During the operation, the following evidence was secured:

  1. Firearms and Ammunition:
    Two disassembled long-barreled firearms.
    Four Pindad G2 pistols.
    632 rounds of 5.56 mm caliber ammunition.
    250 rounds of 9 mm ammunition.
    One disassembled air rifle, along with:

A laser sight + mounting.
A scope + suppressor.
A brown wooden stock.
An air rifle barrel and cylinder.

  1. Other Items:
    One air compressor labeled “United Waran Biru” (used for firearm storage).
    One Vivo Y19S smartphone.
    One pump and an air bag.
    One T-wrench and a portable grinder set.
    Several bags, including an air rifle case and a sling bag containing identification cards and an ATM card.
  2. Cash:
    IDR 369,600,000 (Three hundred sixty-nine million six hundred thousand rupiah).
    According to the suspect’s statement, the firearms were purchased for IDR 1.3 billion from outside Papua and were intended for delivery to the KKB in Puncak Jaya. Meanwhile, the detained truck driver and his assistant claimed they were unaware of the cargo’s contents.

Authorities’ Statement
The Head of the Public Relations Task Force for Cartenz Peace Operation 2025, Police Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, emphasized that the investigation is ongoing.

“This success is not the end but rather the beginning of further investigations. We will continue to trace the origin of these firearms and identify all parties involved,” stated Commissioner Yusuf.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation 2025, Brigadier General Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, expressed appreciation for the team’s hard work in thwarting the smuggling attempt.

“Alhamdulillah, thanks to the team’s dedication, we successfully prevented the smuggling of various firearms and ammunition that were intended to be supplied to the KKB in Puncak Jaya,” he said.

With this successful operation, authorities hope to curb the supply of illegal weapons to armed groups, thereby enhancing security stability in Papua.
